Elegant Bugey wines

The AOC Bugey is in the south of the department of Ain, with Jura to the north and Savoie to the east. It covers the mountainous area in the south-east of the department of Ain and then stretches north-east. Revermont mountain, east of Bourg-en-Bresse, is included in the 470 hectares of the appellation.

Three colours and one speciality

In our territory, the appellation covers the hills around Cerdon, to the outskirts of Bourg-en-Bresse. Red wine, white and rosé are produced here. Eleven grape varieties can be used to produce Bugey wines. The main ones are Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Altesse, Gamay and Mondeuse. There’s one speciality that stands out from the other wines: the AOC Bugey Cerdon. This sparkling wine is produced using ancient methods and is above-all an ode to fruit and indulgence.

Land of the ‘Cavets’

Revermont is a small mountainous region between the Jura mountains and  plaine de la Bresse. But you’ll be surprised to hear about the history of this little region! That’s right! From Roman times, vines were planted all over these hills. There were so many of them that the locals of the Revermont were even called ‘Cavets’ (cave = wine cellar in French).
