As its name suggests, Bourg-en-Bresse blends perfectly into the surrounding countryside, especially Bresse plain and the characteristic natural and architectural heritage. Mother Nature surrounds the town centre and if you look closely, you’ll see that she has even been beautifully preserved within the town’s walls.

History is all around

A town made for wandering, tasting and also visiting. History can be seen all around the town, either in discreet details or opulent-looking buildings. In the ancient districts, you’ll see evidence of several different eras. The tall, white church of Notre-Dame is always watching over the town. History here began at the dawn of the 16th century and is intertwined with the history of the church of Brou, a majestic monument that stands proudly around a twenty-minute walk from here. The town has nothing to envy from bigger towns nearby, as for a town of this size, it boasts a wide range of festive and cultural activities, and sporting events.
